GTA 6 Weapon Mods

GTA 6 weapon mods - custom firearm models, damage overhauls, weapon sound packs and ballistics realism. Install tips and GTAModding.net links.

Weapon mods replace or add to the stock arsenal with new 3D models, hit decals, muzzle flashes and sounds. They're popular for both realism overhauls and themed weapon packs (WWII, sci-fi, modern tactical, fantasy).

Models, sounds and ballistics

A complete weapon mod ships three layers: the visual model with materials and animations, the audio pack with foley-grade firearm samples, and the ballistics edits in weapons.meta. weapons.meta defines damage, recoil, fire rate, magazine size and component slots. Realism overhauls ("hardcore", "semi-arcade", "casual") are pure weapons.meta edits with no model changes - they're tiny downloads with big gameplay impact.

Pack compatibility

Two weapon model packs that target the same stock weapon will conflict. Most modders publish slot-specific replacements (this M4 model replaces the stock carbine slot) so you can run multiple packs without overwrites. Sound mods rarely conflict because they edit a separate audio bucket. Pair a weapon model with a damage overhaul for the most cohesive experience.

Frequently asked

Weapons FAQ

1

How do I install GTA 6 weapon mods?

Drop the weapon archive into your mods folder. Most ship a complete bundle: model, audio and weapons.meta tweaks. Some mods are model-only and let you keep the stock damage values - mix and match to taste.

2

What's weapons.meta?

weapons.meta is the engine's weapon stat database. Every weapon has an entry for damage, recoil, fire rate, ammo type, scope compatibility, and attachment slots. Damage overhauls edit this file directly.

3

Can I add real-world weapon brands?

Technically yes, but most modders use generic names to avoid trademark issues. Brand-licensed mods are usually withdrawn quickly under DMCA. Stick to community packs that ship with renamed assets.

4

Do weapon mods affect difficulty?

Yes - that's often the point. Realism overhauls dramatically increase player and enemy damage, making firefights tense and short. Arcade overhauls do the opposite. Try a hardcore tune in a sandbox save before committing on your main playthrough.
